Gardens of Ninfa

Looking to escape from Rome's chaos ? Ninfa gardens can be your choice

Spring is the perfect season now to enjoy NINFA, a secret unique garden and a true botanical wonderland open only few days per year.

Ninfa was an ancient Roman town that was acquired in the Middle Ages by Pope Bonifacio VIII. It remained part of the Caetani family estate since 1298 and over the centuries went through wars, ruins and destruction.

It was left abandoned until last century when Duchess Ada decided to transform the place into an English-style garden. The work was carried ahead by other descendants of the family, Marguerite Chapin and Leia Caetani, who over time shaped the beautiful garden as we can see it today.

A visit to Ninfa is a walk in a dream atmosphere: roses, rare plants, old trees, multicolored flowers, medieval towers, ancient walls, dumps, waterfalls ... all contribute to create a magical and peaceful environment.

Ninfa is located about 80 km South of Rome, not far from the town of Latina. It makes a lovely day-trip to escape the frantic pace of Rome.

Check opening times and book ahead at WWF offices +39 06 84497206 or at Palazzo Caetani +39 06 687 3056.
